Become a MLK Scholar

We believe that a great impact can be made on our community through service. Our Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Service Scholarship is awarded to those who demonstrate a commitment to this.

To be considered for the scholarship of $500 and a new laptop you must meet the following requirements.

You must be a high school senior within the Oroville Union High School District.
You must be involved in at least one or more Community Service Activities.
You must submit a COMPLETE application packet which includes:
- your profile page
- a double spaced 250 minimum word essay describing your community service activities
- a letter of support from either a teacher, counselor, supervisor, or pastor.
Your completed packet may be submitted on or before the deadline of January 7, 2025.

If selected, you must be present at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Pancake Breakfast which will be held on Monday, January 20, 2025, at the Southside Community Center.

NO LATE APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED

Winners will be notified by Wednesday January 15th and will be presented with a Certificate of Award at the Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Pancake Breakfast. The winners will receive their check and laptop computer once the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Committee has received proof of enrollment. Students must plan to enroll full time for the Fall 2025 term.
